Las Vegas, NV - Alternate Reality Comics is a local comic book store located in Las Vegas, NV off of Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road. Alternate Reality Comics came to be in 1995 when owner Ralph Mathieu bought then-Dungeon Comics which was originally located at the Campus Village across from UNLV.

Mathieu has always had a passion for comics and fell in love with them around 1975 when he started reading titles such as House of Mystery and House of Secrets. Shortly after he began picking up titles from DC and Marvel, he became seriously addicted. Mathieu has always wanted to have an occupation that involved his passion and shares the love of comics with people in his store everyday. Today, 23 years, later Mathieu and Alternate Reality Comics are still going strong and are in the same location in which Mathieu bought 23 years ago.

As a local business owner on Maryland Parkway Mathieu finds the idea for a proposed light rail interesting but is concerned with how difficult it may be for people to travel and get to their locations because of the construction and length of the proposed project. As a business owner, Mathieu ultimately feels that the idea of a light rail could have a negative impact on the surrounding business and services.
